Approval Extension

You will find links for licensing requirements by State or province with an interactive map, and a form will be provided for you to request a free copy of the Spotlight on Regulation report.

Jurisdiction requirements

ASWB submitted your scores to the board as of **/**/***. It is up to your states discretion when they will review the record and issue your license. Please follow up with your state board to get more information, I can provide their phone number for you if needed.

Licensure (Applying & After testing)

ASWB examination fees can be valid for up to one year or one examination whichever comes first. Your approval expires on (Date) once a new approval is received ASWB can update your registration date accordingly. I can provide you with the number to your board.

If you have an appointment scheduled with Pearson Vue, it must be canceled prior to 24 hours of your scheduled appointment.

Testing in another state

If you can travel, you may sit for the exam in a different state/jurisdiction. Your results will go to the state that you applied to for licensure.

Online Testing

Remote testing is not available at this time for the social work licensing examinations.. It is not considered a secure alternative for high stakes testing and using it could compromise exam validity.

Additional Testing Centers

In our contract with Pearson VUE, ASWB requires specific security parameters for test locations. You would need to submit an email to ExamPC@aswb.org with the location you are looking into so that we can reach out to our team at Pearson VUE and inquire about the location.
