Why did ASWB change from PV to PSI?

ASWB is committed to providing consistent, high-quality exam administration for social workers who are becoming licensed, and our new partnership with PSI will allow us to enhance your experience. PSI is an organization that shares our mission to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. 

Online testing

ASWB is working diligently with PSI to offer remote testing. It is a top priority for ASWB to offer this option for our candidates while still maintaining the integrity of the exam. We are hoping to offer later in 2024.

More information will be released once it becomes available.

No printout

I apologize you did not receive the printout of your scores after testing, this is provided as courtesy at some PSI locations. The scores from your examination will remain available to you through your PSI Account within 24 hours of taking the exam.

Duplicate Score

The scores from your examination will remain available to you through your PSI Account. Please contact PSI for your score results. You may call the PSI Candidate Service Center 855-205-5823 or go the website at https://test-takers.psiexams.com/aswb

No Score transfer- Failed

ASWB is only able to submit passing scores to other states for licensing purposes. We are not able to send a non-passing score.

If you have tested for PSI, please log into the PSI portal in order to access your previous attempts at https://test-takers.psiexams.com/aswb

If you had tested with Pearson Vue, ASWB can offer a Duplicate Score Report for previous attempts. This is not an official document, and will provide your name, date of the exam, level of exam and pass/fail. It will not include diagnostic information and cannot be used for licensing.

Attached is the Duplicate Score Report form for Pearson Vue test takers only. You may fill in this fillable PDF form and email to candidateservices@aswb.org.

The Duplicate Score Report costs $40. All sales are final. ASWB does not issue refunds.

Inclement weather

Test centers may be closed or may experience delays during severe weather, natural disasters, or other emergencies. For information on test center closings, call PSI at 855-205-5823.

Examination appointments that the test center cancels in such circumstances may be rescheduled at no cost. If the test center is open and you do not arrive on time for your appointment, you will forfeit your exam fee.

Scholarships

Thank you for your question about ASWB’s future scholarship program, to be offered in collaboration with our testing partner, PSI. We are happy to know that the program is of interest to licensure candidates.

 The scholarship program is in the early planning stages, so applications are not yet available. We anticipate the official launch will happen in early 2025; information about applying will be available on our website closer to that time.

Time Allotted (No special arrangements)

Thank you for contacting ASWB. ASWB allows for a total of four hours (240 minutes) to complete your exam. Appointment times include an additional 30 minutes. The 270 minutes you see on your PSI confirmation email includes 30 minutes for checking in, a tutorial, and survey at the end of the examination.

How to Schedule Online

Please visit https://test-takers.psiexams.com/aswb/

In the top right corner, select "Sign In/ Create Account."

Once at the Login Screen, select: "Create Account."

Your ASWB ID Number will be located on your Authorization to Test Email.

Please use the Candidate ID listed in the email, above your Authorization number.

Once your account is created, you will be able to schedule your exam. You may also call PSI at: 855.205.5823. Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Locations and Availability

If you would like to view PSI testing centers and possible availability in your area, please follow these instructions:

4. You can then enter the location information and hit FIND

5. Once a location is found, you can select the VIEW AVAILABLE TIME SLOTS to bring up the Calendar View

Taking exam in another state

If you are able to travel, you may sit for the exam in a different state/jurisdiction. Your results will go to the state that you applied to for licensure.

Additional test centers

In our contract with PSI, ASWB requires specific security parameters for test locations. We can reach out to our team at PSI and inquire about testing locations in ( ). Please email Specialists@aswb.org with your location request.

Bring Name Change doc

The first and last names on both IDs must match the name on the Authorization to Test from ASWB exactly. Since you have stated that you had a name change between the time of your registration and the examination date, you are able to bring your original (marriage license, divorce decree or court documentation) to show proof of the name change. This is valid for testing center purposes.

Please be sure to update your name with (State) to receive your license in the correct name. ASWB can update your name after you test without delaying the examination.

Approximately 7-10 days after testing, please email a copy of your documentation to candidateservices@aswb.org so we can update your account.
