Extension

No Show/ Apply for excused absence

If you do not appear for your examination at the scheduled time and have not canceled or rescheduled your appointment, you will be considered a no-show and will forfeit your examination fee.

In order to test again, you will need to reregister and pay for the exam. Please wait between 7-10 business days before registering at https://examregistration.aswb.org/

If you are planning to apply for the excused absence, please do not register at this time. This needs to be done within 30 days of your test appointment.

Waivers

To be considered for a 90-day waiver, you must meet all the following criteria, as stated in the ASWB Examination Guidebook:

  1. The state/provincial board where you are applying for a license allows the waiver. Waivers are not available in CA, NV & ND.

  2. Your most recent exam score was within 10 correct answers of the passing score.

Please keep in mind: Candidates must allow test center staff at least 30 minutes to correct any test delivery, administration, or environmental difficulties. Beyond 30 minutes, you have the choice to reschedule or stay to complete testing. Difficulties must be reported immediately to PSI staff at the test center and to ASWB within two business days of the incident. If you did not notify the test center staff of a problem at the time it occurs, ASWB will not be able to verify the problem and recourse will be limited.

If you do not fall within the guidelines and would like the Project Coordinators to review your circumstances, you will out the form on the link from the previous email.

No appealing scores- 90- day waiver option

ASWB does not have an option to appeal your scores. Reporting accurate scores is essential to ASWB’s mission and examination scores cannot be altered by ASWB, PSI, or a social work board.

If you were within 10 points of passing the exam and are in a state that will allow for a waiver, you can apply at the link below for a 90-day waiver to be able to take the exam as soon as possible.

Inclement Weather

Test centers may be closed or may experience delays during severe weather, natural disasters, or other emergencies. For information on test center closings, call PSI at 855-205-5823.

Examination appointments that the test center cancels in such circumstances may be rescheduled at no cost. If the test center is open and you do not arrive on time for your appointment, you will forfeit your exam fee.

Appealing SA/PC decision

Although ASWB does not offer a procedure for filing an appeal or challenging a resolution, if you strongly feel that further consideration is warranted, you may contact the Examination Administration team. Email a personal statement describing your concern and any pertinent documentation to the Examination Administration team at examadmin@aswb.org.

The team will review your concern and issue a final decision via email. It can take 2-3 weeks to receive a response, be sure to check your junk and spam folders.
