THIS PROJECT WAS ABANDONED IN 11/2021 DUE TO OTHER PRIORITIES
Goals
All authorized ASWB staff the ability to sell Candidates one or more extensions of ASWB Exam registration.
In agreement with CSC, IT will provide several design options that include multiple layers of automation to the extension pack sales process. The options will vary in the amount of manual changes the ASWB staff member must undertake to complete all necessary actions, and the amount of effort by IT needed to implement.
Terminology
For consistency within all project related documentation, the following terms will used as defined here:
Term | Definition |
---|---|
Extension pack | A 30 calendar day window of time that may be purchased and applied to the end of a Candidates registration |
Authorized ASWB staff | Any ASWB staff member who has the authority to log into the crcManagement.exe application |
|
|
Background and strategic fit
The CSC team has observed an increase in the number of candidates who are requesting their registration be extended due to difficulties in sitting for the examination. The causes for these difficulties vary, although many are related to COVID-based restrictions. Although ASWB has extended registrations en masse previously due to COVID scheduling issues, it is now seen that individual case by case review of extension requests are necessary, and the opportunity to share the expenses related to processing a registration extension could be shared with the candidate.
Assumptions
The work related to this project will need to be approved by Senior management before it may begin.
All changes to scope must be approved by senior management.
Only staff who have access to the crcManagement system will be able to complete this change

Questions
Below is a list of questions to be addressed as a result of this requirements document:
Question | Outcome |
---|---|
What is the estimated price per extension pack? | As of 9/9/2021, a specific amount has not been determined (per Felicia). |
Is there a maximum number of extensions we will to sell for a single approval? For example, if they have a 5 year approval period, would we sell 4 years worth of extensions? | As of 9/9/2021, no decision has been made (per Felicia). |

Impact Review
A review of all registrations that have occurred since 1/1/2019 where the registration period was for more than 12 months and were not part of any bulk COVID extension groups revealed the following:
140 total registrations were extended
86 completed the exam within the extension period
24 did not take the exam and did not register (approval was still good)
19 did not take the exam and did not register (approval expired or less than 90 days were left)
11 registered again without taking exam on same approval
3 month average extension period added to registrations.
$83.75 - average price of extension periods during period (6 extensions were capped at the exam cost to avoid over paying)
$11,655 - total revenue that would have been generated at $25 per extension pack (6 extensions were capped at the exam cost to avoid over paying)
The figures listed here are based on data pulled on Sept. 9, 2021. Registration extension processes and changes to approval data during the reported period may impacted the overall accuracy of the data.
